Helotes Christian Church
Statement of Belief
At Helotes Christian Church, we believe:

1. The Bible is the Divinely inspired Word of God. We accept the Bible as
being without error, and hold the teachings of the Bible as the supreme and final
authority in all matters of faith and life. We believe the Bible provides its reader
with everything necessary for life and godliness, and we stand opposed to any
attempt to add to or take away from what the Bible teaches. (2 Timothy 3:16,17; 2
Peter 1:3,19-21; Revelation 22:18,19)

2. One God, the Creator of all things, eternally exists in three persons--Father,
Son, and Holy Spirit.
(Genesis 1:26; Matthew 3:16,17; Matthew 28:19; John 10:
30; 2 Corinthians 13:14)

3. Humanity was created in the image and likeness of God, but sin separated
us from God.
 (Genesis1: 26; Genesis 3)

4. God is a God of love and grace, and God manifested His love and grace by
sending His Son to save us from our sin.
(John 3:16; 1 John 4:7-10)

5. Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man, conceived by the Holy Spirit and
born of the virgin Mary.
We believe that Jesus proved His deity by performing
countless miracles and living a sinless life. We accept Jesus’ death on the cross
as the only sufficient payment for our sins and are confident of Jesus’ bodily
resurrection and His ascension into heaven, where He serves as the only
mediator between God and mankind. (John 1:1; Luke 1:26-37; Hebrews 4:15;
Hebrews 10:10-18; Luke 24; Romans 8:34; 1 Timothy 2:5)

6. All have sinned, but all can be saved by believing in Jesus Christ and
accepting Jesus Christ as both Lord and Savior.
(Romans 3:23; Acts 16:31)

7. Those acknowledging Jesus as Lord and Savior will:
· Confess their faith. (Matthew 10:32-33; Romans 10:9)
· Repent of sin. (Luke 13:3,5; Acts 17:30, 2 Peter 3:9)
· Be baptized. (Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38; Romans 6:3-6)

8. Jesus Christ is the founder and Head of the church. The church is a
congregation of believers working together to reach the lost and train the saved so
that all might become fully devoted followers of Jesus. (Matthew 16:18; Ephesians
1:22,23; Ephesians 4:1-16)

9. Believers receive the gift of God’s Holy Spirit when they are baptized. The
Holy Spirit manifests Himself in the life of the believer by revealing truth, sin,
righteousness, and by empowering the believer for godly service. (Acts 2:38; John
16:5-15; Acts 1:8)

10. Jesus will return as He promised. At that time, those who do not know Jesus
as Lord and Savior will endure everlasting separation from God, while those who
have accepted Jesus as their Lord, and live accordingly, will spend eternity with
Him. (John 14:3; Thessalonians 4:13-18; John 3:36)
